I dare you to take time to read through chapters 11 and 12 of Ecclesiastes, if not the whole book, so that we can have a common ground for further exploring the issue of sufferings and the way out.

Thanks for your comments, Psswong. It's interesting to know that Buddhism and Christianity view sufferings in life in some similar ways. However, I guess a fundamental difference there is that while Christianity accepts the notion that there are sufferings in life, Buddhism takes steps further to seeing that life itself is suffering. As far as Buddhism is concerned, this, though it appears paradoxical enough, is a key concept to be grasped by whoever with the intention to find meaning in life.

On the issue of sufferings in life, King Solomon, in Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament, gave an insightful analysis.

Despite his great wisdom and the power, wealth and many women he enjoyed as king, he came to realise, towards the end of his life, that everything in life is "utterly meaningless, a chasing after the wind" - including wisdom, pleasures, toil and achievement. He also lamented the certainty and common destiny of aging and death for all men.

Notwithstanding this, however, he saw a way out. Want to know what that is? Read his "conclusion" in the last two chapters of his book (i.e. 11 and 12).

You should take a leaf out of my book and ramble on about religious topics instead of your everyday life. Ho ho ho.
